The Rot Sets In

So another summery couple of weeks on Arran, you know the sort, the sun shines briefly between prolonged spells of rain and wind, but you do get this sort of thing...

A main objective for this week was to strip the flat bathroom out and get it ready for fitting out as a new shower room to allow us to start to move in, but no, copious dry rot got in the way of that! Previous work on the room had uncovered this to some extent, part of the wall had been replaced leaving just the plaster hanging behind some boarding on the other side…

Other work this week involved meeting the cellar engineer to figure out how and where we are going to run the various lines, at least that went OK. We’re also beginning to have to think seriously about the pub interior, this is what I fancy the bar might look like in due course.

We also slapped a couple of paint samples on the wall and Michael, amazingly, got a liner down the chimney flue which means we can have a wood burning stove, fab!
